Crusty 1940s Surveyors Level. Unreal Outcome!
Hello wonderful People!
Welcome!....or welcome back!
Vintage Surveyors transits seem to be almost the perfect blend of practical tool and work of art. It's unfortunate to see one in such a grave state as this one was. I hope you enjoy watching it brought back to life.

Bottle Capper+NEW Sandblaster Reveal! And Sure, We Even Restore The 100 Year Old Cotter Pin!
Переглядів 103 тис.3 роки тому
Welcome! Or welcome back! This Is a project I have always wanted to tackle. There is something very cool about a antique bottle capper that speaks to me. While doing some research I came across the fact that bottle cappers become popular during Prohibition (for those of you not from America, that was when alcohol was banned in America during the 1920's) As always, I'd love to hear your input. D...
FPU Bison Vise Resto'. Cause Baby I'm Worth it.

Welcome back, or thanks for dropping by! So we have a 1950's-1970's FPU bench vise. This really is a fantastic vise. One of the smoothest vises I have ever used. The price tag on one of these ranges from $75-$200 (obviously used) depending on condition. I paid about $130 for my Yost, and I like it. However, there is NO comparison between the Yost and the FPU. They are in totally different leagu...

89 Years Old Pipe Cutter...And Its A Beast!

What a fantastic $20 FaceBook Market Place find that I had to tackle. Great bones and truly a beast of a tool that seemed deserving of a second life. I really hope you enjoy this one! Please feel free to comment good or bad. I am still in the process of dialing in my channel, experimenting with some of this and that, and nothing helps more than feedback. I do like to know what I've gotten wrong...
MY SISTERS DRESSER MAKEOVER...4 BROKEN DRAWERS AND 1 BROKEN FOOT.
Переглядів 80 тис.3 роки тому
What a classic looking dresser to get a face lift. This was a fairly straight forward makeover using BHER chalk paint and BHER wax as a protective finish. Four drawer glides did have to be replaced and a broken foot glued back on. With that, however, this dresser has a lot of usable life left in it. Hope you enjoy the video.
Mirror Finish. I swore I wouldn't do it again. But I did!

I believe this Proto wrench is from the 1940's or 50's. There was a limited amount of information on it. Regardless, what a classic design. So did it turn out like a mirror? Well, you have to watch and see...but spoiler alert...it did! This is the second tool I have restored for my brother and he might not get this one back. I hope you enjoy this one! A restoration for my brother! Merit Stillson Wrench (60fps version)
Переглядів 551 тис.4 роки тому
The first upload of this video was at 30 fps. I was unhappy with the quality so I have reprocessed it at a higher frame rate. The back story is my brother gave me this to restore so it had to look pretty good...and I think it does! I hope you enjoy it!
Merit Stillson Wrench Restoration.

My brother offered up one of his tools for restoration making sure to add, " I'm going to get this back, Right?" as I left. Functionally the wrench didn't need to be restored...a solid great wrench...but sometimes that's exactly what you want to restore. I hope you like this one as it turned out pretty nice.

Anyone know the point of these vice with the dynamic portion going to the rear? I have a five or six inch one that I inherited and am thinking about restoring for my main bench, but I just can’t get over the rear opening….seems impractical for vertical clamping. Might be better off buying a conventional one. I have a ton of smaller vices, but I need/want a big honkin one.

Once you degrease and clean the casting, there's no need IMHO to remove any remaining adhered paint - just primer it and paint over it, but at this level of restoration it obviously wouldn't work the same. I just found the same vise at an estate sale for $15 and will be going through a milder version of this. Nice work!

For it to get like this does it mean all of the chrome plate has come off? If so how long did the finish last without rusting again, I just want to know if it's worth doing.

Hey Kilo just for your information grinding and sanding away the rust has no part in restoration, because it removes original materials as well as the rust. Restoration is defined as returning something to it's original state and by removing original materials you are doing exactly the wrong thing, that is why people who do actual restorations use rust removers like evaporust because it doesn't harm the original materials, duh

I own that same blue vise. Got it last year. I dig it. It’s actually a good vise. I bought it bigger than what I’d need in hopes that if it was bigger It would or could be a bit more durable and less chances of it cracking on what I’d use it for

3:52 You were absolutely using the Gator Stripping Wheel WRONG!!! Those are the BEST for coarse sanding/stripping! You don't use the EDGE! You use the FLAT face and it's flexible to a certain (small) degree. You can press fairly hard at like a 10 degree angle on the FLAT surface. I find them to be an amazing addition to my resto projects.
